Complaining
Maybe I'll use this blog to complain about major life issues. Right now I have seized upon the idea of living somewhere in Europe for a few years, but many things stand in my way. One of these things is that the US, being the stinkhole that it is, has no young-workers exchange program with most countries; it looks like it's just Canada, Singapore, Latvia (?), and Ireland (and some of those have a cutoff at age 30). I am deeply disappointed in my country. "The USA has decided not to participate..." -- isn't that just charming?
Since I'm not in career-demand enough to just up and apply for positions in foreign countries with any sort of optimism (given that they have to love you pretty much, not to mention in most cases explicitly prove that you're the best person for the job, better than a citizen), I guess I'm stuck here for now. But wait until I go back to school for ten years and become a weird specialist that desperately needs hiring. And also become broke.
